Hive was born from a simple frustration: why is it so hard to know what's happening two blocks away?
We started Hive in Baltimore because we watched amazing local businesses struggle to reach the neighbors who would've loved them. Meanwhile, those same neighbors had no idea what was thriving right around the corner. That gap felt wrong — and fixable.
Our mission
Hive connects people to the businesses, events, and communities that make their neighborhood worth living in. We believe strong local economies start with neighbors who know, support, and show up for each other.
How we're different
Hive is curated by people, not algorithms. And there's no pay-to-play. We don't show you ads from faceless corporations. We don't sell your data. We don't optimize for engagement at the expense of your time. Hive is hyper-local, community-owned in spirit, and built to make your specific neighborhood thrive — not a feed of everything everywhere.
Where we're headed
We're launching in Baltimore and expanding block by block, city by city. We're growing because neighbors tell other neighbors — not because we're spending millions on ads. That's the point.
How does it work?
Say a friend is visiting Baltimore. Instead of texting a list of places, you build them a hive and share it. They accept it, explore your picks, and can add recommendations from people they trust too. When you visit them, they return the favor. It grows from there.
